I am sincerely honored and humbled to serve as the 2017 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Board President! Our Fair is hallowed ground as I spent much of my life growing up at this Fair. I was blessed to meet some incredibly special people – many who remain my friends today. I’m a product of 4-H and its part of my identity, having been a 10-year 4-H member, project leader for 11 years and serving on our Fair Board for 14 years, I’ve learned firsthand what a positive influence 4-H has on the lives of those involved.
Countless hours are spent by 4-H members, their parents and leaders to “Make the Best Better”. For many like me, 4-H has been a family tradition for generations. Families grow more connected when they work, play and laugh together on their way toward a common goal. Children prepare for months to showcase their projects and efforts here each July. The values, life skills and principles 4-H teaches will serve them well into the future as they are indeed the future leaders of our community, country and world.
The Elkhart County 4-H Fair couldn’t be possible without the selfless commitment and sacrifices of hundreds of volunteers. They give their time and energy to make this one of the premiere 4-H Fairs in the nation and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Please join me July 21-29, 2017, as we celebrate “4-H…Generations of Farm Fresh Family Fun”. When you visit, please walk through the ECCC and the livestock barns to view the year-end results of our incredibly talented 4-H members. Please congratulate them on a job well done and encourage them no matter where they may go in life to “Make the Best Better”. I look forward to welcoming you to the 2017 Elkhart County 4-H Fair where we’ll be promoting “4-H…Generations of Farm Fresh Family Fun”!
